2026-10-04 13:00:00

Model Overview

The MAEXTRO S800 is the debut flagship saloon from MAEXTRO, an ultra-luxury brand jointly developed by Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) and JAC Motors. The vehicle made its public debut and opened for pre-orders in November 2024, before its official launch on 30 May 2025. Positioned as a D+ segment executive flagship saloon, it is offered in both range-extended (REEV) and pure electric (BEV) powertrains. Four variants were initially introduced at launch, with official recommended retail prices ranging from RM708,000 to RM1,018,000. In June 2026, the brand rolled out the higher-end Grand Design Collector's Edition series, with pre-sale prices pegged between RM1,600,000 and RM2,000,000. As the first true mass-production saloon from a Chinese brand to target the million-ringgit market, the MAEXTRO S800 goes head-to-head with traditional ultra-luxury stalwarts such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series, and Maybach S-Class.

Design Language

The MAEXTRO S800 adopts the design philosophy of "Harmony of Heaven, Earth, and Man" alongside the all-new "Vast Cosmos" design language. The front fascia features an expansive closed-off grille flanked by newly styled starlight headlamp clusters, whilst the continuous lower chrome grille and large silver alloy wheels create an imposing, majestic road presence. In profile, the sleek and elongated silhouette showcases classic proportions with a short front overhang and an extended passenger cell. The rear is highlighted by a "Nebula Canvas" full-width light bar and galaxy-effect lighting elements, accented with "Star-reaching" flush door handles in the finer details.

In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm to 1,542 mm in height, riding on a massive 3,370 mm wheelbase. This easily eclipses the Mercedes-Benz EQS (5,227 mm length / 3,210 mm wheelbase) and BMW i7 (5,391 mm length / 3,215 mm wheelbase). Six bespoke exterior colours are offered, comprising four dual-tone and two monotone options. The Grand Design Collector's Edition further gains exclusive dual-tone finishes such as Distant Mountain Green-Black and Rising Sun Gold, complemented by 3D gold emblems, gold bonnet pinstriping, and 21-inch Sun alloy wheels.

Inside, the MAEXTRO S800 features a sleek triple-screen dashboard layout complemented by a Head-Up Display (HUD). The steering wheel sports an elegant design, paired with digital side mirrors. Finished primarily in rich brown tones, the cabin is trimmed with premium natural materials crafted through hundreds of artisanal processes. It also boasts a 3.4 m² flat floor design, freeing up over 1,100 mm of rear legroom.

Powertrain & Performance

The MAEXTRO S800 comes standard with an all-wheel drive (AWD) setup across the range, offered in dual-motor and tri-motor configurations. The pure electric dual-motor variant features a 160 kW front and 230 kW rear motor for a combined output of 390 kW, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds. The range-extended tri-motor version pushes out a colossal combined output of 635 kW (approx. 864 PS) and 718 Nm of torque, dispatching 0-100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The pure electric dual-motor version delivers a fully fuelled and charged combined range of up to 1,333 km.

For driving range, standard range-extended variants pair a 1.5T range extender (170 PS) with battery packs of varying capacities, delivering a WLTC pure electric range of 271 km to 311 km. The Grand Design Collector's Edition pure electric version is equipped with a 120.043 kWh Qilin battery pack offering a CLTC range of 780 km; the range-extended version features a 63.262 kWh battery pack delivering a WLTC pure electric range of 276 km and a total combined range exceeding 1,000 km. In an industry first, the MAEXTRO S800 introduces an 800V high-voltage range-extended platform, allowing the REEV model to support 800V DC ultra-fast charging, taking just 10.5 minutes to replenish from 10% to 80%.

Chassis & Handling

Underpinning the MAEXTRO S800 is the debut of the Tuling Longxing platform, the industry's first proprietary intelligent digital chassis architecture. Featuring a fully integrated domain architecture, it boasts active sensing, centralised control, intelligent reasoning, and continuous self-learning capabilities. Hardware-wise, it rides on front double-wishbone independent suspension and rear five-link independent suspension, paired with dual-chamber air suspension, Continuous Damping Control (CDC) shock absorbers, and Magic Carpet active suspension. It also debuts Spatiotemporal Reasoning Suspension technology, which scans the road ahead to make predictive adjustments, pre-empting bumps and corners before impact. Active rear-wheel steering is standard across all variants, delivering an industry-leading steering angle of ±12°; coupled with the multi-wheel steering control system, it yields an agile turning radius of just 5.05 metres for this 5.48-metre D-segment saloon. The vehicle also features intelligent driving tyre blowout stability control assist, which can steady the vehicle's posture via suspension adjustments within 0.2 seconds during a blowout.

Cabin & Features

In the cockpit, the MAEXTRO S800 is powered by the HarmonyOS ALPS Cockpit 2.0 system. The dashboard is fitted with a triple-screen setup and a Head-Up Display (HUD). The Grand Design Collector's Edition steps it up with dual 55-inch AR-HUD units and a dedicated rear entertainment system. The cabin also incorporates active air purification and odour removal, active sterilisation, and dual negative oxygen ion systems. Automotive-grade chips support 5G-V2X vehicle-to-everything connectivity.

Seating arrangements include a standard 5-seat layout, while top-spec and Grand Design trims adopt a four-seat individual executive configuration. The rear quarters feature dual zero-gravity executive seats divided by a multi-function centre console housing an aluminium folding table, heated and cooled cup holders, a wireless charging pad, one-touch mute, one-touch power sunshades, and a fingerprint-secured safe. Detachable touchscreens on the rear door armrests allow passengers to control front passenger seat folding, zero-gravity modes, privacy acoustic shielding, four-zone climate control, as well as seat heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The interior is lavishly appointed with semi-aniline leather and intangible cultural heritage embroidery. Boot capacity is rated at 438 litres.

Safety & Intelligent Driving

Advanced driver assistance is a cornerstone of the MAEXTRO S800's appeal. It marks the debut of the Huawei Qiankun ADS intelligent driving system (ADS 4/4.1 on standard models; ADS 5 on the Grand Design version). On the sensing front, the S800 brings the world's first mass-production 896-line dual-optical-path image-grade LiDAR to the market. Its comprehensive sensor suite boasts 36 high-precision perception units, including 4 LiDAR sensors, 3 distributed 4D millimetre-wave radar matrices, 2 4D corner radars, 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 4 exterior microphones. The system supports Urban Navigation On Autopilot (NOA), Automated Valet Parking (AVP), and Highway NOA, among other capabilities.

On the passive safety front, the MAEXTRO S800 utilises an ultra-high-strength body structure and comes standard with driver/front passenger airbags, front/rear side airbags, full-length curtain airbags, and a front centre airbag. The active safety suite includes Lane Departure Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Driver Fatigue Alert, Front and Rear Collision Warning, Door Opening Warning, Sentry Mode, and more.

Market Performance & Reviews

The MAEXTRO S800 has posted impressive sales figures since its debut, racking up over 5,000 orders within just 19 days of launch. As of June 2026, cumulative deliveries have surpassed 18,500 units, maintaining the top sales spot among ultra-luxury saloons priced above RM700,000 for 8 consecutive months. In December 2025, monthly sales hit 2,145 units, securing the full-size luxury segment crown for the third consecutive month. Insurance registrations exceeded 1,100 units in April 2026 alone, with single-day deliveries topping 200 units in December 2025. To support the project, JAC Motors assembled a dedicated R&D team of over 5,000 personnel, with R&D spending intensity reaching 9% in 2025.

Media reviews highlight that the MAEXTRO S800 establishes a new paradigm of "tech luxury" underpinned by Qiankun ADS, HarmonyOS Cockpit, and Tuling Chassis; while traditional luxury has long relied on heritage and mechanical refinement, the S800 redefines luxury through AI-driven intelligence. However, analysts note that the million-ringgit segment remains a niche market, presenting challenges for sustained volume growth. With the launch of the Grand Design Collector's Edition, the MAEXTRO lineup now spans the RM700,000 to RM2,000,000 bracket, plugging a critical gap for Chinese marques in the ultra-luxury saloon space. As a flagship product born of the deep synergy between Huawei and JAC, the MAEXTRO S800 charts a fresh trajectory for Chinese brands moving upmarket via an "engineering foundation + intelligent ecosystem" blueprint.
